About this bouquet

This purple flower bouquet is made of one flower: 20 or 30 stems of lavender purple stock, all in the same shade, on stems about 16 to 18 inches (40 to 45 cm) long. It comes wrapped in paper with a ribbon and delivered in a glass vase.

It suits Mother’s Day or the birthday of someone who loves purple. The scent reaches across a room, which helps when you send it to someone recovering at home.

Stock, an old garden flower once called gillyflower, has a strong clove scent. Each stem is a spike of ruffled double florets that opens from the bottom up, so the green buds at the tips go on opening for days. One flower in one color makes the bouquet read as a single soft purple mass with no gaps. Stock stems spoil water faster than most flowers, so change it every day or two and trim the ends.

For purple next to white, see lavender stock paired with white tulips; for bold color in a box, look at pink orchids and roses in a box.

Twenty stems make a full, round bouquet, and 30 widen it into one you carry in both hands; the glass vase comes with both sizes.

Will it look exactly like the photo?

Very close. Every bouquet is arranged by hand, so no two are exactly alike. Flowers are seasonal and availability can vary. If a flower isn’t available, we replace it with one of equal or greater value, keeping the color palette, style and beauty of the arrangement. Want to see it before it goes out? What if the recipient isn’t home?

We always try to hand the bouquet over in person. If there’s a safe spot (by the door, or with a concierge), we leave the bouquet there and take a photo. If there’s nowhere safe to leave it, we call the recipient using the number in your delivery instructions, and if they don’t answer, we contact you.

If we can’t reach either of you, we bring the bouquet back to the shop and hold it until the end of pickup hours the next day: pick it up at 6201 Hollywood Blvd or book a redelivery. Need it handed over in person? Say so in the delivery instructions and include the recipient’s phone number.

How do I care for it?

Some flowers last longer than others. Flowers don’t like heat, direct sun or sudden temperature changes, and each order comes with a packet of flower food.

Bouquets in a vase: mix the flower food into the water, trim ½ inch off the stems at an angle, change the water every 2 days, and keep them away from direct sun, heaters, AC vents and fruit.

Flowers in a box: add a little water to the foam every day so it never dries out, and keep the box in a cool spot out of direct sun.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Flowers and delivery date can be changed until 6 AM on the delivery day, when we buy the flowers for your order. The address and card message can be changed until the order is handed to our driver, usually after 12 PM. We email you when that happens.

Cancel before 6 AM on the delivery day for a full refund. After that the flowers have already been bought, so the order can’t be canceled. For Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and other peak days, changes to the flowers or the date and cancellations close at 6 AM three days before delivery. To make a change, call or text (323) 493-1514.
